The City of De Pere Public Works Department is overseen by its Director, Scott Thoresen, P.E. The Engineering Department is supervisied by the City Engineer. At this time, this position is vacant. In the interum, our Assistant City Engineer, Karen Heyrman, P.E. will assume the role as Acting City Engineer. The Engineering Division and its Street projects will be overseen by Ms. Heyrman Our Engineering Division is comprised of one City Engineer, one Civil Engineer, one Senior Technician, four Engineering Technicians and part-time seasonal employees.
Each year the Engineering Department designs and constructs 1 to 2 miles of new streets with sewer and water mains serving 100 to 400 new lots; 5 to 6 miles of street resurfacing and reconstruction; 1.5 miles of sewer and water reconstruction; 5 miles of sewer televising. This Department is also in charge of City Construction Projects such as sewer and water main installation, street extensions, sidewalk removal and repair, asphalt and concrete pavement. The Engineering Division does most of the design work for these projects and also hires outside firms to do some of the design.
