Team Policing & Your Community

A Message from the Chief of Police

Team Policing in De Pere is a modification of Community Policing, where officers create relationships within the community they serve.  With De Pere Team Policing, Officers and supervisors are assigned geographic areas of the city and patrol those areas on a regular basis.  They get to know the people, businesses, and community lifestyle of those areas.  We know from experience that neighborhoods have unique assets, nuances, and problems due to location, population, business, or physical layout issues.  Officers will be able to adapt policing strategies to assist neighborhoods in dealing with crime patterns, trends or other quality of life issues such as parking, noise and garbage.  But the efforts by the police are not stand-alone; the neighborhood watch, neighborhood associations, and crime prevention efforts are important for success to be realized.

The members of the De Pere Police Department are committed to a partnership with you and look forward to working with you in your community.

How Does Team Policing Work?

  • Officers of the De Pere Police Department will be assigned to two specific Team Areas within the City of De Pere.
  • Each area will have a Sergeant assigned as the Team Area Supervisor.
  • Each Team will have a dedicated voicemail box and email address.
  • If there is an issue in your neighborhood that you feel needs to be addressed such
as:  parking, noise, garbage, traffic violations, or an activity in your neighborhood
that you would like the police to be aware of, contact your Team Area Supervisor.
  • The Team Area Supervisor, along with the officers assigned to your neighborhood,
will plan strategies to solve the problem or stop the activity that is taking place.
  • Your Team Officers have a number of resources that they will use to assist them.
Officers will use other municipal, state, and federal agencies, along with a number
of other organizations in their problem-solving efforts.
  • The Team Policing Program is designed to address long-term problem solving.
  • It is the goal of the Police Department to make the City of De Pere a safe place to
live and work, but we need your help.
  • We need the eyes and ears of the community to assist us.  A strong partnership with
you will help us achieve our goal.

For immediate emergency situations needing Police Services, please call 9-1-1

Getting Involved with Team Policing

Neighborhood Watch is one way that you can get involved with your team.

Neighborhood Watch -  the purpose is to make you aware of the steps you can take to make your home secure against crime.  Working together, you and your Team Policing officers can protect your entire neighborhood.  A Neighborhood Watch program is the logical first step for any community organizing against crime.  It gets people talking to and caring about one another.
