Health Department

Our Mission

The City of De Pere Health Department serves to protect and promote public health across the lifespan through: education, policy development and valued services.

Our Vision

De Pere: A community where health conscious people live, learn, work and play.

Public Health Nursing Services
De Pere Public Health Nursing provides services to the community which focus on health promotion and disease prevention.  Communicable Disease investigation, education, and follow-up include sexually transmitted diseases, foodborne and waterborne illnesses, tuberculosis, and vaccine preventable diseases.  Maternal and Child Health nursing services include home visits for families with new babies. Home visits focus on assessment, education and connecting families to community resources.
Environmental Health
The Environmental Health Program protects the health and safety of De Pere residents and visitors through regulatory activities in establishments with weights and measurement devices, restaurants and retail food establishments, public swimming pools, lodging establishments and tattoo/body piercing establishments. Additionally, the health department investigates nuisance complaints, housing sanitation complaints, rodent and insect infestations, lead based paint hazards, human or animal rabies exposures, and other environmental hazards. The health department also provides public education and acts as a referral mechanism to other state and local agencies for information on environmental health concerns.
In accordance with the State inspection program, all of the City of De Pere food inspection reports will be posted online beginning July 1, 2015. De Pere Health Department Food Inspection Reports
Public Health Preparedness

The Health Department works to increase the capacity of the community to effectively respond to public health emergencies through assessing, planning, training, collaboration and community education.

Community Health Improvement Process

Brown County and De Pere Health Departments, in conjunction with the Wisconsin Division of Public Health, healthcare networks, and the Brown County United Way, formed a Steering Committee to work with community partners to identify health concerns for improvement in Brown County and De Pere. The identified priorities selected were: adequate, appropriate, and safe food and nutrition; oral health; mental health and unhealthy alcohol and drug use. Action teams of community members have been formed and led by area health care networks to plan improvements over the next 3 years.
