Forestry
The De Pere Forestry Department is proud of our urban forest. The trees of De Pere are growing capital assets that benefit everyone and are an investment in this great community. Our trees help make De Pere a great place to live, do business, and visit. They help provide us with essential quality of life aspects such as clean air and water; economic bonuses such as lower energy bills; and social benefits such as reduced crime (Please see the US Forest Service fact sheet at http://na.fs.fed.us/urban/treespayusback/vol2/index.html for these and more benefits. In short, TREES PAY US BACK!Please use this website to help you answer questions and educate yourselves. When your need for additional guidance arises, please contact your City Forester, Don Melichar.
Services We Provide
Do you have a plant problem in your home landscape? Maybe the back yard maple has some strange bumps on its leaves, your flowering crab is losing foliage in midsummer, or you think some of your trees might need pruning but you are not quite sure how to go about it. Give us a call! We will be happy to come to your home, look at the problem, and advise you on the proper procedure or treatment and general care for your landscape plants.

If the parkway (boulevard, tree lawn) in front of your home needs trees, we can help. Part of our ongoing street tree planting program includes planting trees by request for residents who are willing to water them once planted. If there is adequate space and no other major site limitations, chances are good that we can plant. In most cases you can select the species to be planted from a list on the order form that is available in spring and fall.  The 2019 Fall Tree Order form is now available.  Orders will be accepted until September 27, 2019.

If you know of a street tree or any city-owned tree that may be diseased, insect infested, decayed, or otherwise might be a safety hazard, you will help your neighborhood and community by letting us know about it. We will respond as soon as possible and take action to remedy the situation.
