The City of De Pere Public Works Department is overseen by its Director, Scott Thoresen, P.E. The Engineering Department and its street projects are supervised primarily by the City Engineer, Eric Rakers, P.E., and secondarily by the Assistant City Engineer, Chase Kuffel, P.E. The Engineering Department is comprised of: two Civil Engineers, five Senior Engineer Technicians, and part-time seasonal employees.

Each year the Engineering Department designs and constructs:

  • 1 to 2 miles of new streets with sewer and water mains, serving 100 to 400 lots
  • 5 to 6 miles of street resurfacing and reconstruction
  • 1 to 2 miles of sewer and water reconstruction

The Engineering Department is also in charge of City Construction Projects such as: sewer and water main installation, street extensions, sidewalk removal and repair, asphalt and concrete pavement.

The Engineering Department does most of the design work for these projects.
