LARGE ITEMS

CURBSIDE COLLECTION WEEKS: If you need to dispose of old furniture, bicycles, mattresses, etc., the first curbside collection this summer for large items will run the week of June 15-19. Any items you wish to have collected must be out by 6:30 a.m. on Monday, June 15, as collections will not follow your refuse/recycle route schedule. Any items placed out after 6:30 a.m. on Monday will be the owner’s responsibility.

The next collection is September 21-25. You must have items out by 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 21.

Want to know what you can place out for collection? This link provides a handy list (IMPORTANT NOTE: Curbside pick-up only applies to items listed as acceptable on page 1, please call if you have questions).

DROP-OFF SITE: If you missed the week of curbside collection for large items or simply need to be dispose of them at a different time, please know that we have a drop-off site at 925. S. Sixth Street at our Municipal Service Center. This site is open from April to November, on Wednesdays (3-7 p.m.) and Saturdays (8 a.m. - 4 p.m.). It is open to City of De Pere residents only, and a staffed attendant is there to ensure only accepted materials are disposed of.

OVERFLOW (TOO MANY BAGS/TOO MUCH RECYCLABLES)

Overflow garbage

FREE CURBSIDE COLLECTION WEEKS:  Holidays are a lot of fun, but they tend to produce a lot of waste after a slew of visitors stop out, or you're simply catching up on home projects and cleaning. We get it. Your carts can only hold so much, right?

That's why we offer free overflow pick-up of bagged garbage or boxed recycling in the days following each major holiday. This means you can put out extra bags of normal garbage on your next garbage day, and extra recyclables in cardboard boxes (do not bag your recyclables!) on your next recycling date

Free overflow collection following these holidays:

  • New Year's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

OVERFLOW TAGS FOR ANY WEEK: Missed free overflow week, or simply have excess garbage to get rid of? Overflow tags are also available for purchase throughout the year. The cost of tags are $2 per tag. Each tag will accommodate two bags of garbage (or two boxes of recyclables) and are available for purchase at the Municipal Service Center located at 925 S. Sixth Street.

YARD WASTE & BRUSH

There's a lot of fun and relaxing going on in De Pere backyards in the summer - and a lot of work, too. While you're doing landscaping, trimming, mowing and other work, here's some important things to keep in mind:

De Pere brush collection

BRUSH COLLECTION WEEK: The weeks of May 4-8, July 13-17, and October 12-16, we will have free curbside brush collection. Brush should be placed curbside before 6:30 a.m. on Monday of the collection week. Brush consists of brush and tree trimmings only. Do not put grass clippings, lawn rakings, garden waste or leaves with your brush. If brush is placed at the curb after Monday it will be the property owner's responsibility to dispose of it properly.

COMPOST SITE FOR BRUSH, LAWN CLIPPINGS, ETC. If you missed brush collection or need somewhere to dump grass clippings, please dispose of your yard waste at our compost facility - located on Rockland Road. It's open seven days a week from dawn to dusk. The compost facility is a service provided to City of De Pere and Town of Ledgeview residents only. Free mulch is also available at this site.

ELECTRONICS, CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS, ETC.

Please review this chart for a breakdown of how to dispose of items like electronics (many items accepted for free!), hazardous waste and construction materials like doors, windows and concrete.

WHEN IS YOUR GARBAGE COLLECTED ON HOLIDAY WEEKS?

When a holiday falls on a Monday-Thursday, garbage & recycling is delayed one (1) day for the remainder of the week.
As a result, here's what you need to know:

  • New Year's Day is on a Wednesday. That week's normal Wednesday collections will be picked up Thursday and Thursday's collections will be on Friday.
  • Memorial Day is on a Monday. This year it falls on May 25. Everyone's collections will be delayed that week by one day (Monday collections on Tuesday, Tuesday on Wednesday, Wednesday on Thursday, and Thursday on Friday).
  • Independence Day is on a Saturday. No collections will be delayed in 2020 for this holiday.
  • Labor Day is on a Monday. This year it falls on September 7. Everyone's collections will be delayed that week by one day (Monday collections on Tuesday, Tuesday on Wednesday, Wednesday on Thursday, and Thursday on Friday).
  • Thanksgiving is on a Thursday. That week's normal Thursday collections will be picked up on Friday.
  • Christmas Day is on a Friday. No collections will be delayed in 2020 for this holiday.
